Other Information & Preferences

Personal Statement

I am interested in playing volleyball at the highest possible level. I am a competitive athlete who is always striving to improve. Volleyball has enabled me to learn the important skills of time management, team work, mental and physical toughness, work ethic, and dedication to the sport and my team. I have also become a strong leader who is willing to step up to any challenge. I am also a very good listener who appreciates advice from both my coaches and teammates.

I began playing volleyball in the spring of 8th grade. I initially tried out in 7th grade after never having played volleyball. I did not make the team, but that experience fueled my motivation to improve. I practiced all year despite having not been selected to be a member of the team. As a more experienced player, I successfully earned a place on the eighth grade team and joined the Junior Varsity team as a freshman the following year. I began playing club volleyball for Pittsburgh Elite after my freshman high school season ended and I improved tremendously. I was selected to be the starting varsity middle blocker the next year. Despite being the only sophomore on the varsity team, I took on the role of leader and helped our team grow, work hard and succeed. I was awarded varsity MVP at the end of the season. Our team won their section and earned a spot in the playoffs for the first time in the history of our school. I will never forget the thrill of the WIPIAL championship match alongside my teammates. I loved being on the court with that intense atmosphere. That feeling of competition is what drives me to succeed and play volleyball at the highest level.

Goals & Major

I am planning to study biology in college.
